Dustin Milligan done with 90210
The next season of 90210 would have to go on without good guy Ethan, as Entertainment Weekly has just reported that Canadian actor Dustin Milligan won't be returning to the show this fall. He may be one-half of the series' central super couple, but he has no power over major decisions such as this.
An insider from the series revealed that Milligan's contract option will not be picked up for 90210's sophomore run. However, he might be back to wrap up his character's story in a multi-episode arc.
Apparently, the reasons for Milligan's departure are rooted in the creative vision of the writers and had nothing to do with financial matters. Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair, the new boss of 90210, admitted to EW's Michael Ausiello about season 2 being "significantly" different than the first.
It looks as if it's going to be quite a reboot, especially with Sinclair's idea to "reconceive things visually." She also maintained that "There are opportunities to embrace California culture visually in terms of fashion and style; I want it to be more contemporary."
"If Gossip Girl is about youth in New York," she explains, "I want to [make 90210] about youth in L.A. and Beverly Hills."
Another point she's hoping to raise is that 90210 won't be relying on the original's alums to boost their ratings. This could also mean a farewell to the likes of Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty, and Tori Spelling. It only seems fit since writer-producer Sinclair already took the helm from the original show-running duo of Jeff Judah and Gabe Sachs.
"The show tried to be a lot of things to a lot of people in its first season," Sinclair said. "I think the center lies with the generation of kids that are in high school now. I'm not interested in casting people for stunt value."
This goes the same for Dustin Milligan, who'll surely be missed. "Everyone loves Ethan," said the 90210 insider. "There was just a feeling that the character had run its course."
TV Fanatic: Liam has been billed as the new Dylan McKay, an iconic character. Do you feel pressure as a result of this comparison?
Matt Lanter: You really can't think that way. I've been through the same thing with Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Lanter voices Anakin Skywalker). I just do what I can to make these characters my own.
TV Fanatic: Were you a fan of the original series?
Lanter: I'm starting to watch it now. I spend a lot of time outdoors, I guess [laughs]. But I bought the first season of Beverly Hills, 90210 to see what all the fuss was about.
TV Fanatic: The original clearly made an attempt to teach viewers a lesson about underage drinking, unprotected sex, etc. How does the new 90210 compare?
Lanter: We make a conscious effort to portray what's really going on in the lives of high school students. There's not as much of a message attached. Times change. Teens are going through different things now than they were five years ago, let alone ten years ago.
TV Fanatic: You've worked mostly with AnnaLynne McCord so far. Can you talk about her as an actress?
Lanter: She's unpredictable, really fun to work with. Definitely says some crazy stuff. But I love her, we have a great time doing scenes together.
TV Fanatic: What's your status on the show? Is Liam a permanent character?
Lanter: I've done 7 or 8 episodes so far. But he's a permanent character. Next season, I'll be a series regular.
TV Fanatic: Can you give us any spoilers for your character?
Lanter: You're gonna see how his relationships evolve with almost all the characters, not just Naomi. Youre gonna see how Liam influences other guys, such as Ethan, in a not-so-good manner.

Ingen New moon.
Actress ANNALYNNE MCCORD has lost out on playing human bait in the TWILIGHT sequel - to beautiful Canadian supermodel NOOT SEEAR.
The 90210 star had auditioned for the part of Heidi and recently revealed it was a dream role for her, but producers have chosen to give Seear, 25, a big break instead, according to Eonline.com.
In a recent interview, MCCord said, "I'd love to do it (film). I'm obsessed with vampires."
Seear's only film role to date came in 2001 when she appeared opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. in Head Over Heels.
Her character in Twilight sequel New Moon lures humans to Volturi vampires, who feast on her offerings. Author Stephenie Meyers describes Heidi as possessing "exceptional, unforgettable beauty".
It's a double blow for MCCord, who was hoping to team up with her actor boyfriend Kellan Lutz on the set of New Moon, which has just started shooting in Canada.
